Motorsports takes delivery of new Swift 016a Atlantic Chassis
March 10, 2005.
Gardena, California. MJ Motorsports preparations for the 2006 season
begin in ernest today as the team has taken delivery of their Swift
Engineering 016.a Champ Car Atlantic chassis at their factory in
Gardena, California, this afternoon.
"It feels
a little bit like Christmas when you see a big package under the
tree with your name on it," Team Principal Michael James commented.
"This is something we've been looking forward to for several
months and the excitement level has been building since the factory
unveiling and test of this new chassis, so it feels good to have
our new car in our shop and start to get down to business preparing
the car for the season."

and Smith drive through field at Road Atlanta

2005. Braselton, Georgia. Road Atlanta, site of Round Eleven of
the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear, is sprawling
2.5-mile circuit that features numerous twists, turns and elevation
changes. Those same words could be used to describe the emotions
of the MJ Motorsports drivers and crew as they battled through a
challenging weekend to place both drivers towards the front of the
field.
“I wouldn’t
want to go through a weekend like this very often, but it just confirms
that I have the best crew in the paddock,” Team Principal
Michael James said afterwards. “The work that these guys did
to get both cars together for the race was amazing, and both Marco
and Ross drove like they were possessed!”

announces expansion plans for 2006
September 28,
2005. Braselton, Georgia. Michael James, Team Principal for Gardena,
California-based MJ Motorsports, announced plans today to expand
his teams’ operations beyond the Star Mazda Championship presented
by Goodyear with an additional two-car effort in the Champ Car Atlantic
Series, having placed deposits for two of the upcoming Swift Atlantic
chassis.
Recently announced
by Champ Car, the new Swift 016.a chassis will feature a 300-horsepower,
2.3 liter Cosworth engine, Pi Electronics, and additional regulations
aimed at keeping costs reasonable. At the same time the Champ Car
Atlantic Series has announced an incentive program that will provide
the series champion with a $2 million to be used in assisting that
driver into a Champ Car ride.
