James "MJ"
Team Principal / Team Manager / CAD Engineer
Graduated from Santa Clara University with a BS in mechanical
engineering with an emphasis in vehicle dynamics and aerodynamics.
In 1994 served as an apprentice on the championship winning
Cunningham Racing Nissan GTS team. While attending school,
worked one year as a technician at Ferrari of Los Gatos. After
graduation spent the next eight years restoring Italian sports
cars and Racing some of the most historically significant
Can -Am, Formula 1 and FIA Sports Racing Cars from the 1960's
through the 1980's. During this time worked as an engineer
and data acquisition specialist under legendary motorsports
Engineer Carol Smith. Served 2 years with Star Race Cars as
developmental Engineer on the new Pro Car program and as the
lead engineer for the factory team earning them the North
American Championship, Rookie of the Year & Expert Series
Championship in 2004.

Michael is the current Pro Formula Mazda Champion earning 7
Wins, 6 Poles & 8 Podium positions on his way to capture
the title. Michael served as an instructor at the Bondurant
School and has great success in go karts. Quickly adapting to
cars, Michael has proven to be one of the top up and coming
American drivers
at any level. In addition to coaching for MJ Motorsports, Michael
will be co-driving with Memo Gidley in Finlay Motorsports Daytona
Prototype effort. |
